A Chrome Extension to Enhance Video Player Experience

Are you tired of videos automatically playing when you visit a website? Do you find it annoying when videos start playing without your consent? Look no further! With this Chrome extension, you can take control of your video player experience and enjoy browsing the web without any unexpected autoplay videos.

Stop Autoplay and Show Video Thumbnails

This Chrome extension allows you to make video players, whether they are using Flash or HTML5, show video thumbnails instead of autoplaying. No more sudden noise or unwanted distractions when you open a website with video content. You can now have a more peaceful and focused browsing experience.

Enhanced Features for Customization

Not only does this extension stop autoplay, but it also offers additional features for customization. You can enable proactive blocking for websites, meaning that autoplay will be prevented before it even starts. This gives you more control over which websites can autoplay videos.

Furthermore, you can allow session autoplay for websites. This feature stops only the first autoplay video for a continuous session on the website. It is particularly useful for video sites like Dailymotion, where you may want to watch multiple videos without interruptions.

If you prefer websites to use their HTML5 player instead of Flash, you can disable flash detection. This forces sites to use their HTML5 player, which can always be stopped. This feature ensures that you have the ultimate control over autoplay videos on various websites.

Convenient Enable/Disable Option

This Chrome extension offers a quick add-on enable/disable feature. With just a left double-click, you can easily enable or disable the extension as per your preference. This makes it convenient to switch between autoplay and thumbnail modes based on your immediate needs.

In addition to the autoplay control, this extension provides a play/pause context menu item. This option will appear for covered video elements, allowing you to play or pause videos with ease. Simply perform a Ctrl+right-click to bring up the default context menu and access this feature.

Work as I hoped, when I now refresh tabs no videos is playing, I dont have to go to all tabs to stop all videos that started playing automatically, such a relief, thanks :)

It works, but the GUI is misleading. Devs, please make the GUI functional.

Seemed to work at first, yet now it no longer blocks any annoying videos on any news site that I read such as Reuters. I believe there ought to be a menu that pops-up when the icon is selected with the left mouse button, yet that only works for me on its own Google Play page, not on any other external site. ----- Update - In the options I briefly switched to allow videos, then back to block. Now it seems to block videos on Reuters, will see if that persists or not. I don't understand why news sites insist on forcing their videos upon visitors that consume bandwidth without approval. I prefer to read the news, not watch it!

I love the idea (since Chrome won't make their browser useful without addons), but this one simply didn't work for me. After installing, all sites continued to happily autoplay their videos like before.

Stops the video on CTV from auto playing. The ctv video causes my laptop to go to a black screen, it was very annoying... Thanks Autoplay Stopper for fixing this.

Works perfect. So tired of all these sites that start blasting a video as soon as the page loads.

Hilarious that chrome forces users to download 3rd party extensions for something built into firefox

Works perfectly for me. I appreciate the possibility to set URLs for disabling this plugin due to conflicts with online services like Meet, Zoom etc. I use Meet and had issues with both video and sound. After setting things up everything works perfectly.
